Sr. Germaine and guest Emmaus Benedictines are meeting the challenge of beginning a new foundation. We are the only Benedictines in the Allentown, Pennsylvania Diocese, and our monastic presence brings Saint Benedict's spirituality to life here.

The Prayer Group, Study Group and Associates are integrating Benedict's values into their lives. In education and parish ministry the Gospel is being shared. And there are many other challenges to be met, needs to be cared for, risks to be taken!

If you are a Catholic woman between the ages of 18 and 45, who feels called to seek God in a life of prayer, living in a community of like-minded women, and are open to serving others in Gospel ministry using your talents and giftedness, Transfiguration Monastery may be the place for you.

Stages of Formation include:

Vocational Discernment involves getting acquainted with the community through periodic visits and time shared in prayer, meals and conversation.

Affiliation with the community is a time when visits are more frequent and discernment is somewhat more intensified.

Residency involves a period of months in which an affiliate lives with the community while continuing her current job or ministry.

Postulancy, formal entrance into the monastic community, lasts a period of one year during which learning about the monastic life at Transfiguration Monastery becomes the priority.

Novitiate, lasting one year, is a time of intense spiritual formation.

Temporary Profession begins when the novice takes the Benedictine vows of stability, conversatio and obedience for three years.

Final Profession is the culmination of all of the preparation and prayer and is the permanent commitment of the Sister to the monastic community.
